Close to Home is a metaphor for the project’s artwork, which draws inspiration from a collection of iconic flora and fauna from within the City. The artwork combines original drawings with sculpture, featuring local wildlife to inspire imaginations of passers-by and celebrate the beauty that surrounds community members in their everyday. Present within the artwork design (Design 1) are flora and fauna species that carry a native footprint in the Canning region; the design referencing the Flooded Gum (Eucalyptus rudis), Firewood Banksia (Banksia attenuate) and the Red-tailed Black Cockatoo (Calyptorhynchus banksii).
