The City of Canning is committed to collaboratively working towards a connected and safe community for all.

The Safe Canning Strategy provides the guiding structure to support the implementation of initiatives and programs that enhance community safety. This is achieved through the delivery of the Implementation Action Plan (The Plan).

The Plan and its ongoing review comprises several key steps, which together form the Safe Canning Strategy Cycle as shown below.

The setting of priority actions is determined through ongoing consultation with our community and key stakeholders regarding perceptions of safety. Consideration to factors such as changes to local crime trends, demographic and census data will also influence actions.

The current Implementation Action Plan can be viewed here.

What is happening with the new fencing around Queensville Park in Lynwood? Will the posts be fitted with a chain to restrict the too-common use of the park as an escape route for a recent spate of trail bikes cutting through Lynwood?

Lynwood Resident asked about 1 month ago

Thank you for your comment. The existing post and rail fencing around Queensville Park is being replaced with the City’s standard recycled plastic bollards. These bollards are not suitable to be fitted with chains.

The City’s Ranger and Community Safety Services team have been notified and will increase patrols for off road vehicles in this area.

In future, you can notify the RCSS by calling 1300 422 664 at the time of the incident.
