Consultation has concluded

The City is pleased to release the results of the Create your own City survey.

Create your own City was an interactive survey where you got to tell us the services you value the most and would offer to your community. It was a hypothetical survey that gave the City an understanding of the needs, wants and expectations of our community.

The survey was complex and adaptive, unique for every person that completed the questions. It was designed to push boundaries, as it asked the user to constantly evaluate their answers, asking for the user to trade off between costs, services and levels of service.

Despite this, the City was pleased to have such an outstanding response with 598 people completing the survey. This means that the results contained strong data, clearly indicating four priority areas for the City to consider:

CCTV: At the July 2018 Ordinary Council Meeting, Council endorsed the City's recommendations to formally scope the update, expansion and integration of the CCTV network.

Libraries: Council have approved the trial of a self-service pilot program at one of the City's libraries.

Roads: Further service level reviews are required. The City needs to investigate the specifics of where the greater levels of service are required; i.e. pothole maintenance, paving defects, local, distributor, or arterial (main) roads.

Business Services: More research relating to services for businesses is required, with a view to seek greater engagement with our business community.

Background

Our City: Our Future, the Strategic Community Plan 2017-2027 was created in collaboration with the Canning community and was adopted by Council in July 2017.

The Strategic Community Plan shapes the City's future direction, priorities and services for 2017-2027.

The consultation that was undertaken during the creation of Our City: Our Future indicated that the community wanted further opportunities to collaborate with the City, and have more input into things such as the services that are provided to the community.

Create your own City has evolved from the Strategic Community Plan process and now gives such opportunities to the community to have a greater say on the City's services and levels of service.

Hello Kevin. The survey relates to the City of Canning as a whole (see map here if that helps - City of Canning Map). Thank you, City of Canning.
