Public comment is currently being invited on Scheme Amendment No. 196 to City of Canning Town Planning Scheme No. 40.

Council resolved to initiate Scheme Amendment No. 196 on 15 July 2014. The Amendment proposes to make a number of administrative changes to Town Planning Scheme No. 40, which effects the Canning City Centre. The major modifications involve the following:

  • Remove the ‘City Centre’ and ‘City Centre Deferred’ zones from Table 3A - Zoning Table and substituting with a ‘Centre’ zone.
  • Remove Part IV – Canning City Centre Development and substituting a new Part IV – Centre Development and amending the Table of Contents accordingly.
  • Add a new ‘Small Bar’ land use in Table 3A – Zoning Table.
  • Remove Additional Use 36 from Appendix 5 – Schedule of Additional or Prohibited Uses and the Town Planning Scheme No. 40 map.
  • Create a new Special Control Area in the Scheme by adding the Canning City Centre in Appendix 9 – Development Areas as DA2.
  • Rezone and reclassifying the Canning City Centre area from ‘City Centre’, ‘City Centre Deferred’, ‘Mixed Business’, ‘Residential R17.5/R40’, ‘Residential R17.5/R60’ and Local Authority Reservation for ‘Civic & Cultural Areas’ to ‘Centre’, Local Authority Reservation for ‘Public Purpose’, Local Authority Reservation for ‘Civic & Cultural Areas’ and ‘Residential R60’ as shown on the Scheme Amendment No. 196 Map.
