The City of Canning is seeking your feedback on a proposal to enhance safety at the intersection of Renou Street and Gerard Street in East Cannington.
This intersection has been identified as high-risk, with 12 crashes reported over the past five years – including one involving injury.
Key Safety Risks:
Unsafe vehicle speeds along Gerrard Street through the intersection
Limited visibility due to poor lighting and constrained sight lines
Unclear vehicle manoeuvres
Multiple conflict points with intersecting vehicle movements
Over-represented right angle crashes
Pedestrian and cyclist movements
Maintaining public transport access
Significant above ground infrastructure
Vehicle movements from abutting property accesses

To address these issues, the City has secured State Government funding through the Black Spot Program, which supports road safety projects with a proven crash history or high potential for future incidents.
Planned Works:
Raised intersection construction at the two T-intersections of Gerard Street and Renou Street đ§
Upgraded lighting to improve visibility and enhance safety at night đĄ
Resurfacing Renou Street from Gerard Street to Lacey Street with minor road improvements đ
