Chosen Playground Designs please see link at the end of this page, where you can see the designs chosen by the community for all playgrounds to be renewed this year.

What’s being shaped?

New playgrounds are on the way in Queens Park, Parkwood, Willetton, Lynwood, Ferndale and Riverton!

We're now in the fourth year of our Playground Renewals. We've already upgraded a massive 30 playgrounds, with TEN more on the way in 2023-24! These include:

  • Godfrey Park, Queens Park
  • Hossack Park, Parkwood
  • Cardoc Park, Parkwood
  • Prendwick Park, Willetton
  • Barracuda Park, Willetton
  • Ockham Park, Lynwood
  • Crofton Park, Lynwood
  • Cygnet Park, Lynwood
  • Saurel Park, Ferndale
  • Modillion Park, Riverton

Four of the playgrounds (listed below) are situated within dog off-leash areas, so we will be providing the playground options with and without dog fences, essentially providing four designs per playground for community to choose one from.

These playgrounds are:

Cardoc Park playground

Prendwick Park playground

Modillion Park playground

Barracuda Park playground

The remaining six playgrounds are not located in a dog off-leash area and will have two design options for the community to choose from.

Why are playgrounds so important? Playgrounds can assist in:

Better shade

A focus on nature and adventure play, and

More inclusive and accessible play spaces.

Backstory

The City of Canning has over 100 playgrounds of varying age, condition, configuration and size.

Based on community feedback, and a review of our current playgrounds, we developed our Play Provision Strategy - our plan for playgrounds and play spaces over the next 20 years.

The Strategy aims to make the City's playgrounds appropriate, fun, stimulating and more accessible for everyone.

How can you get involved?

Voting has now taken place for Godfrey Park, Queens Park, Hossack Park, Parkwood, Cardoc Park, Parkwood, Prendwick Park, Willetton, Barracuda Park, Willetton, Ockham Park, Lynwood, Crofton Park, Lynwood, Cygnet Park, Lynwood, Saurel Park, Ferndale and Modillion Park, Riverton. Next steps?.

We are now working with suppliers to start building the playground equipment and will then be scheduling installations over the coming months. We are aiming for all playgrounds to be complete by the end of the financial year, contractor delays and weather permitting. We will keep you updated as best we can as we roll the new playgrounds out!
