As part of a wider City of Canning response in supporting our community to deal the social impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Active Spaces team intend to gain a detailed understanding of the immediate and perceived long term impacts to sporting clubs and their members as a result of the community sport shutdown caused by COVID-19. Through gaining this understanding, the City will be able to determine best practice for club service delivery during the shutdown as well as comprehensive planning for the resumption of community sport and organisational recovery for our sports clubs.

The project will involve two phases of engagement with club presidents or nominated representatives. These two phases of online engagement will enable the Active Spaces team to gauge the immediate and perceived impacts on the clubs and their members, the planning (if any) undertaken by clubs to handle their return to operation following the shutdown, as well as the capacity of the club to resume their new normal level of operations and remain sustainable.

This information provided by our sports clubs will enable Active Spaces to develop up to date and relevant level of club support as we move towards the end of this shutdown, as well as identify any requirements for an increased level of service upon the resumption of community sport.
