Wilson Dog Park

Help shape future shade and tree planting at Wilson Dog Park 🌳

At the Annual General Meeting of Electors, a motion was carried requesting that the City investigate planting a stand of trees somewhere along the centre line approximately along the North/South axis of the dog exercise area at Wilson Dog Park.

The motion raised the opportunity to provide additional tree canopy and shade, support sensory enrichment for dogs, and help create a safer and more comfortable space for the community to use during warmer months of the year.

The City recognises that Wilson Dog Park is a valued community facility and was originally developed following significant community consultation. Any proposed changes to the layout, planting, function or use of the dog park should therefore be informed by further community feedback.

The City is now seeking input from dog park users, nearby residents and the wider community on the proposed tree planting concept. Feedback will help the City understand community support for additional tree planting, preferred planting locations, and any matters that should be considered before progressing further.

The concept being considered includes planting medium-sized Western Australian native trees within and around the dog exercise area to improve shade, amenity, biodiversity and the overall user experience, while retaining open grassed areas for dogs to run and play.

Community feedback received through this survey will be reviewed by City officers and used to guide tree planting for the project.

The survey closes on the 9 August 2026 - click here to complete the survey.
