The City of Canning (City) is seeking feedback from residents and the community on the proposed road improvements on Willcock Street in Ferndale.

The road improvements are being delivered as part of the Route 2: Cannington - Willetton project and have been jointly funded and delivered by the City and State Government through the Department of Transport's Western Australian Bicycle Network Grants Program.

This project aims to improve amenity, safety and accessibility on Willcock Street, and designing for safe and active transport to encourage walking, riding, public transport accessibility and safer roads.

The following upgrades and improvements have been proposed for Willcock Street as part of this project:

  • New traffic calming treatments including slow points and raised median islands.
  • Upgrade the existing footpath to a shared path and upgraded pedestrian crossing facilities.
  • New street trees to be planted along the shared path route as set out in the City’s Urban Green Strategy.
  • Improvements to critical infrastructure such as stormwater drainage and road pavements.

This project aligns with the following City of Canning Strategic Plans and Policies:

  • Strategic Community Plan
  • Integrated Transport Plan
  • Cycling and Walking Plan
  • Road Safety Management Plan
  • Local Area Traffic Management Plan
  • City of Canning Sustainability Policy
