City of Canning Street Tree Request

Thank you to all the wonderful residents who have hit up our Request a Street Tree page and requested a street tree. We have received over 60 requests in the last few months. Unfortunately we have to close off requests for this year to allow time for our team to process the requests and contact residents.

The City of Canning encourages residents to support the Urban Forest Strategy by requesting a street tree for their verge. We're taking requests for the 2023 planting season right now, so please click on the link below to enter your information. We're in the process of finalising the tree species we will be able to supply next year, so please enter your best contact details and one of our team will be in contact with you to discuss available tree species once we have confirmation from our grower.

We try our best to provide a range of trees to pick from including native, local native and exotic trees. Did you know that choosing a locally native tree will help increase biodiversity and support locally native birds?

Please complete the application form by clicking this link Request a Tree Now or the button below. Simply enter all the required information and your request will be sent to the City Greening Team. Once we have a confirmed list of tree species from our grower, one of the team will be in contact with you to discuss available options.

Tree planting generally begins toward the end of May, depending on weather conditions. We usually wait until we have regular rain to help the trees establish over the winter months.

The City will install your new tree and maintain it for the next two years, watering it up to twice per week in summer. You can help ensure the establishment of your new tree by supplying additional water over the really hot weather from December to February. Just a bucket or two per week can make all the difference between a growing tree and a thriving tree.

The Fine Print

Of course any great offer comes with conditions.

Please note -

  • The City may only accept requests for trees from property owners and for trees to be planted adjacent to the applicants property. If you are a tenant, please contact the property agent or owner about applying for a verge tree.
  • Whilst we currently have good stocks of trees we cannot guarantee your selection will be available. So get your request in now to secure your new tree this season.

The City of Canning is a proud Gold Waterwise Council

This initiative is proudly co-funded by Water Corporation’s Waterwise Greening Scheme and forms part of our ambition for City of Canning to be a leading waterwise city.
