Proposed Scheme Amendment No 29 to Town Planning Scheme No 21

Consultation has concluded

Council has recently initiated the above amendment to Town Planning Scheme No 21, which is being advertised for public comment in accordance with the Planning and Development (Local Planning Schemes) Regulations 2015 (PD Regulations).

Scheme Amendment No. 29 (the amendment) proposes numerous changes to the Scheme text and maps in response to issues identified with the Scheme since the last major review in 2010. The proposed changes are:

  1. Making numerous text changes to improve consistency and clarity.
  2. Deleting the “No. of Property” and “Paid” column in Appendix A.
  3. Deleting numerous properties from Appendix A that have already paid the required Scheme Costs.
  4. Deleting the “Grouped Dwellings Site with Frontage under 25m” designation from any properties on the Development Guide Map and legend.
  5. Deleting the “Land Required for Scheme Road Purposes (0.5 Canning / 0.5 Private)” designation from the Development Guide Map legend.
  6. Deleting the “Proposed Subdivisional Roads” and “Public Open Space Required” designations from the majority of 146 Treasure Road (Lot 2), Queens Park as shown on the amended Development Guide Map.
  7. Deleting the “Proposed Subdivisional Roads” from a portion of 144 Treasure Road (Lot 3), Queens Park as shown on the amended Development Guide Map.
  8. Deleting the proposed cadastre over 144 Treasure Road (Lot 3), Queens Park and 146 Treasure Road (Lot 2), Queens Park as shown on the amended Development Guide Map.
  9. Deleting the “Land Required for Scheme Road Purposes” designation from 145-147 Crawford Street (Lot 445), East Cannington and amending the “Land Required for Scheme Road Purposes” designation on 143 Crawford Street (Lot 100), East Cannington as shown on the amended Development Guide Map.
  10. Applying a “Compensating Basin” designation to the following properties as shown on the amended Development Guide Map:
    1. 86-88 Railway Parade (Lot 195), Queens Park;
    2. 90 Railway Parade (Lot 65), Queens Park; and
    3. 92 Railway Parade (Lot 66), Queens Park.
  11. Making numerous other changes to the Scheme Map to reflect recent subdivisions, approved variations and purchases of public open space.

The Scheme Amendment No. 29 Report and Map are available for inspection:

  • Online here, and
  • at the City’s Administration Building, 1317 Albany Highway, Cannington, between the hours of 8.15am and 5.00pm, Monday to Friday.

Should you wish to make comment on the proposal, submissions must be completed on Submission Form 3A and forwarded in writing to the Chief Executive Officer, Locked Bag 80, Welshpool 6986 or via e-mail to strategic.planning@canning.wa.gov.au prior to 1 April 2021.
