In April the City of Canning Council committed to apply a rates freeze as part of a $16.5 million COVID-19 relief package. This means that the City will only collect the same total amount of rates revenue as last year. The proposed rates have been based on planned projects and services the City will deliver to the community in 2020-2021. Council is also considering bringing forward future capital works to stimulate our local economy and help boost local jobs. The City will rate our community businesses the same over the next year as we collected this year.

Even though there is a rates freeze, your rates may still go up or down as a result of the valuation process undertaken by the State Valuer General. We understand you may have questions so to learn more, please click here: bit.ly/WALGArates

During the current advertising period for proposed 2020-2021 rating, Council will consider further City initiatives to support Canning ratepayers and business.

Thank you for your feedback. The submission period has now closed.
