Planning Proposals Open for Consultation

Our planning consultation is divided into two key areas: Strategic Planning and Statutory Planning

Statutory Planning

Statutory Planning is the regulatory function of land use planning. It ensures that development and land use align with the objectives set out in strategic planning documents.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assessing development and subdivision applications.
  • Applying statutory instruments and processes to guide land use.
  • Collaborating with the Design Review Panel on significant developments to ensure high-quality built form outcomes.

Strategic Planning

Strategic Planning focuses on understanding local issues and developing long-term strategies to guide how land is used and developed. The goal is to support a high quality of life and provide opportunities for people to live, work, play, and do business locally.

To achieve this, Strategic Planning:

  • Reviews economic, environmental, and social trends.
  • Identifies opportunities that align with the City’s values, aspirations, and needs.
  • Works in consultation with the community to prepare, review, and implement planning legislation, policies, and strategic projects.

These efforts help build a healthy, sustainable, and vibrant City. The outcomes of Strategic Planning are implemented through statutory planning processes
