Solar Lighting Trial: Park Beach Close Dog Park

The City is considering a winter trial of temporary solar light towers at Park Beach Close Dog Park to help extend the use of the park during the early evening. The solar lighting will be trialled between 5pm - 7.30pm at Park Beach Close.

During winter, shorter daylight hours can limit the time residents have to walk, exercise their dogs and enjoy local open space after work or school. The proposed trial would provide additional lighting between the hours of 5pm and 7:30pm in selected areas of the park, making it easier for dog owners and local residents to use the space safely and comfortably for a longer period each day.

The use of solar lighting allows the City to test a flexible, lower-impact lighting option without the need for permanent electrical infrastructure. As part of the trial, the City will consider community feedback, park usage, light spill, nearby residents, safety, amenity and environmental impacts.

We are seeking feedback from the community to understand whether temporary winter lighting would be supported and whether it would help residents make better use of Park Beach Close during the cooler months.

To submit your feedback, please click here or use the form below. The survey closes on the 31 August 2026.

Thank you,
