On the 18 August 2026, the City of Canning Council resolved to initiate a review of the Standing Orders Local Law 2015.
The purpose of the City of Canning Standing Orders Local Law 2015 is to prescribe the rules and procedures for the conduct of Council and Committee Meetings.
The effect of the City of Canning Standing Orders Local Law 2015 is to facilitate the orderly and efficient conduct of the City’s Council and Committee meetings.
The Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety is progressing standard meeting procedures regulations to create uniform requirements and replace existing local laws. These reforms are expected to be implemented in 2027-28. This upcoming reform process should be considered when providing comments and proposing any further action.
A copy of the law may be inspected at or obtained from the City’s Administration Centre, 1317 Albany Highway, Cannington 6107 between the hours of 8:15am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Copies are also available to view from the City’s website at https://www.canning.wa.gov.au/about-us/council-business/governance/local-laws/
