The City of Canning is partnering with community groups and organisations to take learning to where it's needed most using our brand new Canning on the Go Van. Thank you everybody for your feedback and interest.

The custom-fit van is equipped to create pop-up spaces for activities, programs and events. The City is partnering with groups to use the van to deliver innovative learning programs and activities in locations all over Canning.

The brand new Canning on the Go Van contains equipment to enable the delivery of programs and activities out-doors. This includes:

  • PA system
  • Presentation screen
  • Gazebo
  • Tables and chairs
  • Awning
  • WiFi hotspot
  • Charging facilities

The van can also be used to transport equipment to indoor locations.


The Canning on the Go Objectives

We asked for expressions of interest from community groups and organisations who want to partner with the City to deliver learning programs for the community, using our Canning on the Go Van. These projects meet one or more of the following objectives:

  • Build early literacy

Support parents and families to increase early literacy in children.

  • Provide learning opportunities for adults and/or seniors

Provide learning opportunities for adults and seniors which nurture health and well-being, community connection, innovation, sustainability, entrepreneurship and creative expression.

  • Increase digital literacy

Support people to learn how to confidently and safely access the internet and digital services, and use digital technologies.

  • Build community connection and inclusion

Increase people's sense of belonging and build strong social connections in the community. Reduce physical, cultural, social and/or economic barriers to learning.

  • Celebrate diversity

Promote awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal culture and heritage. Provide shared cultural experiences.

  • Reduce barriers to learning for
    • Seniors
    • Youth
    • New migrants
    • Cultural and linguistically diverse communities
    • People living with a disability
